The best dog ever.

It's been 5 years since we walked out of the Humane Society with a beautiful black lab.  We named her Rayla after our favorite singer, Ray Lamontagne.  Rayla's the sweetest and most loyal companion with a crazy amount of energy.  I wish I could bottle up one ounce of it and add it to my coffee for an extra kick!  Every time we walk through the door she greets us with over-the-top enthusiasm.  "Look at me, look at me!  I'm doing circles and jumping up and down while whining and running around because I missed you!"

Our whole family loves her so much.  I don't know what we would do if a day went by without having to clean up black dog hair!

Introducing Q books!

Part of my job as a photographer is to stay current with print products that people want.  I'm able to offer a wide variety because of my affiliations with several of the finest print companies near and far. My wedding album supplier, Queensberry, are located in New Zealand and produce the best prints, books and albums.  Since I'm very familiar with their high-level of quality, it's a no-brainier when it comes to offering their Q book line of photo albums.

Q books are ultra simple albums that combine modern construction with durable materials and elegant styling.  They are perfect-bound, hard cover books, printed with six-colour digital offset technology.  They come in four sizes: 10x7, 10x10, 12x12 and 14x10. Covers are finished in beautiful, hard-wearing metallic-look buckram fabric and come in 10 beautiful colors.  There are also two paper stocks to choose from - semi-gloss Satin or Tintoretto matted art paper.

The sample book below is a 10x7 with the Bridal White buckram cover and is blind-embossed. The paper stock is Tintoretto matted art paper. One touch of this book and you know you're holding a fine-art photo album.

The 10 different buckram colors are: Starry Night, Bronze, Pistachio, Baby Blue, Pretty Pink, Bridal White, Aluminum, Pewter, Tuxedo Black and Poppy Red.

Q books are designed and sold by Matthew Stenzel Photography.  They make a perfect companion to any Newborn or Portrait Session.  If you have any questions regarding Q books, visit the Print Products document or contact me.

DIY: A faux vintage floor prop for photographers.

Vintage wood floors are really popular for newborn and child photography. Most photographers use large paper prints with a repeating pattern to mimic the raw, yet warm and comfy feeling of an old-fashioned wood floor. Often times, though, printed floors end up looking flat and unnatural because they lack texture and depth. By nature, they're also easily destructible and usually are replaced many times over which becomes pricey.

Well, I have a solution to the paper floor and it's easier than you think.
