Engagement Session Preview!

I had an awesome time with Katrina and James tonight.  So many beautiful images!  Here is a fun and romantic shot from the session...

It's been a long day and [this guy] needs some rest.  More images from this session will be blogged next week.  Check back!

I still can't believe it because I don't feel different except for the bags under my eyes, gray hairs multiplying and the restlessness that looms over my body.  Oh, and everyone reminding me when they ask, "how is Leah?"

Well, she's great!  Although it can be stressful at times, I love so many things about being a father.

I love when she wakes up in the morning with a big smile on her face.  Her only concerns are breast milk, clean diaper and loving arms to hold her.

I love when she falls asleep on my shoulder.  Drool running down her face and my shirt soaked from the spillage.

I love when I can soothe her during one of her full-on freak-outs...

I love when I can make her belly-laugh with a simple, "peek-a-boo" or raspberry on her tummy.

I love when she holds my finger with her whole hand.

I love our walks in the yard, looking at the flowers, trees and landscaping that I've painstakingly done over the past 3 years.

I love the smell of her hair and skin, especially after a bath!

I love singing to her.  I also appreciate the fact that she doesn't throw a fit when I get the words wrong (99% of the time).

I love to say "I know" when someone says "she's so pretty".

I love her chubby, kissable cheeks and her slobbery kisses back.

I love looking at all of her videos and photos.

I even love her toots!

I think it's pretty safe to say that I'm in love with my Leah Bean and all of the awesomeness of fatherhood.  To all of the lucky dads in the world, Happy Father's Day.

Oh, and I guess moms are pretty special too.

Oh yeh, I mustn't forget to have a mini celebration for the 100th post!  Woot, woot!

Congratulations Dave and Pam!

More images to follow soon!

Grazi Custom Clothier.

I guess I never knew what a real suit looked like until I saw the custom suits designed by Grazi Custom Clothier in St. Clair Shores, MI.  The craftsmanship is impeccable.  The highest quality materials begged to be touched.  The colors are vibrant and the lines are clean.  They have truly achieved the essence of modern style.

Once again, thank you Debbie and Jaye for allowing me to photograph your amazing work. Also, a big thanks to Kitty Hawk Studios for getting me onboard this great project. I'm looking forward to the final website design!

I've learned more...

...since the last time I learned something.

11. Breast milk will inevitably get on me.  There's no avoiding it.
12. If a baby is hungry enough, she will take a bottle! (Small, yet important accomplishment of my early fatherhood era)
13. A 12 amp vacuum cleaner and the womb apparently have the same sound characteristics.  It works like a charm every time.  Goodnight Leah and hellooooo nap-time for dad!
14. If she fusses, face her outwards.  If that doesn't work, face her inwards.  If that doesn't work, bounce up-and-down while singing.  If that doesn't work, shower her with kisses and make her laugh.  If that doesn't work, check the diaper.  If that doesn't work, try to feed her.  If that doesn't work, ask mom for any suggestions.  When all options are exhausted, go back to step 1 and repeat.
15. If mom wants her to wear something cute, mom needs to put the appropriate clothes out for dad before leaving for work.
16. When she lovingly stares into my eyes, I'm always weary...  There's a 97% chance that she's not infatuated with me, but instead is preparing to have a bowel movement of a certain magnitude.
17. Telling jokes to her does nothing.  In fact, it actually has the opposite effect.  It's best to just stick with the obnoxious sounds and faces.
18. When toxic baby poop gets on clothes, wash immediately or forever have a poop stain!
19. If there is an important phone call to make, wait until mom gets home.
20. After 3 1/2 months, Leah still has me wrapped around her slimy, saliva-covered finger.  How can a baby drool this much and not become dehydrated?!
