Lazy Sunday.

What a long weekend of paintball, campfires and great times. Now that the weekend is officially over, I want to say thanks to my brother (aka best man) for organizing a cool party with friends and family. It was a blast and can't thank you enough for the fun time I had. You rock.

Now, here's a couple shots taken earlier today that I think are cute:

Goodnight, I'm off to bed.

Camping Weekend.

This weekend I'm off to test my rain-survival-skills yet again! You see, I'm cursed when it comes to camping and having good weather. For the past 3 years, and the 7 or 8 times I've gone camping, it has never, not rained. The very last time we went camping was the worst of them all. So bad, in fact, that we had to pack up our tents in the pouring rain and hightail our way out of there! Not only was our tent beginning to leak (that's another story), but the party tent we had set up was beginning to implode from all the collected rain water. And our poor dog... our poor dog.

Hopefully this weekend is a different story. First off, it's just a guys weekend, so Haley won't be joining. We'll know for-sure if the rain follows Haley or me.

Secondly, my good friends on The Weather Channel are only giving us a 20% chance of rain on Friday, and a 40% chance on Saturday. That's the best percentages I've ever heard for a camping weekend!

Thirdly, we'll be drinking lots of beer so we might not even realize it's raining. Bring on the Guinness!

If there are any rain-rituals that you perform to ensure sunshine and warmth, please feel free to do them this weekend. We'll need all the support we can get. I'll end this post with a quote from the late, great, George Carlin.

“Some national parks have long waiting lists for camping reservations. When you have to wait a year to sleep next to a tree, something is wrong.”

Have a good weekend.

2 for Tuesday. Wait, it's Wednesday!

Well, I generally don't post this often in my blog, but I have to rave about something that I just received in the mail... it's Nik's Professional editing plug-ins for aperture and it's ooh, ooh good!

I haven't really had the chance to fool around too much with it, but I can already tell how much better my prints and images will look after running it through this sweet sharpener tool.

(my nephew Alex, taken a few weeks ago at my dad's birthday party)

I'm not a huge fan of mega post-processing, so these tools do exactly what I need them to do. They speed up my workflow, keeping my images in Aperture without having to export to Photoshop for every-little-thing, and look great to boot!

Check them out here, and if you are really digging them, purchase them here!

Cedar Point 2009

Last Monday was our annual Cedar Point trip. Millenium Force, The Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, Raptor, Mantis... you get the point... Only this year was a little different then years before because of good ole' Mother Nature. By 5 o'clock, we were homebound, smelling like swampthings and trying to warm up from the blistering rain treatment we received. The 4 rollercoasters we went on that day (yeh, that's right, 4 rollercoasters) definitely did not satisfy my craving for the C.P. But why did we only go on 4 rollercoasters that day? And, more importantly, why wasn't one of them The Maverick (for those who don't know, The Maverick is hands-down the best ride at Cedar Point)?

Well, I'll break it down into a list. I call it: Top ten reasons we didn't get to ride the Maverick.

1. Everyone was supposed to meet at 7:00am. 7:05 rolls around and here comes Jenna strolling up the driveway. (5 minutes)
2. Somehow, while I was fiddling around with Bonnie's voice on the TomTom, I disabled all sound and we ended up going a few miles out-of-the-way. As a side note, I would also like to point out that Megann's TomTom dependancy issues didn't help. (12 minutes)
3. It was agreed that we would make no-stops since Megann's car can efficiently get us there with 1/4 tank of gas. About 10 minutes before arriving to Cedar Point, Megann's urge to pee superseded the agreement and we made a pit-stop at CVS. (7 minutes)
4. Megann failed to 'pass with care'. (4 minutes)
5. I forgot to buy my ticket ahead of time, sorry. (6 minutes)
6. Renting a locker for the Millenium Force (you know who you are). (8 minutes)
7. Jenna forcing us to go on the Power Tower. Who really wants to go on the Power Tower? Honestly. (27 minutes)
8. Jenna, Melissa, and Megann wandering around the saloon looking for a bathroom. (4 minutes)
9. Melissa deciding it was ok to wait for everyone to finish in the bathroom before she decided to use it. (5 minutes)
10. Jenna's shenanigans in the saloon. Yes, there was a fly that kept landing on our shoulders. No, I didn't like to feel clausterphobic with a fly landing on my shoulder. Yes, it was very innapropriate to not let me out after stating, "I really need to get out of this booth. Really. I need to get out. Please let me out. I can't stay here any longer. Please." (35 seconds)

With all of the time we spent on extracurricular activities (1 hour, 18 minutes and 35 seconds to be exact), we missed The Maverick by sheer minutes... literally. We were standing 20 feet away when the first drop of rain hit the pavement. Team Weenis will definitely not make the same mistakes again. Next year, it's Maverick or bust.

Travis and Lindsay's E-Session

Downtown Detroit, beautiful weather, and one smokin' couple! This was an awesome experience for me because Travis and Lindsay rocked in front of the camera. They must've had paparazzi follow them around before because they were so comfortable and easy to direct... most of the time I didn't have to do anything but snap the photo! Thanks again for a great time you two. Here are a few from our session last Wednesday.

From the D.

Yesterday evening, I had the awesome pleasure of shooting engagement photos for my friend Lindsay, and her fiance Travis. We cruised down to Belle Isle, spent time there and then went into the city for some urban shots. I think they turned out great and can't wait to show them off!

Ironically, Haley and I both had our engagement shots there too a week before by the awesome Dustin Francis. I'm excited to see ours as well!
