I printed off Dustin + Lauren's engagement session at a Ritz Camera store using their online service. I also ordered them through our website as well, but couldn't wait for them because I want to construct an album to show potential clients. Plus, the 50 free prints coupon I had for Ritz Camera helped my decision.
Well... they turned out great! The colors are excellent, the black and whites are deep and dramatic and the whole set really looks smashing. I know when Lauren receives her prints in the mail, she's going to fall in love with them. There's a huge difference from looking at them on a computer screen, and physically holding the actual prints.

Today, Ritchie and I had the honor of shooting Dustin and Lauren's engagement photos. We had a blast and they are a really cool couple! We took photos at Dustin's home, a local bar, under a viaduct, in a park and in front of the Royal Oak Music Theatre for the grand finale! These guys were great sports and really made the shoot awesome. We're both excited to capture the most important day of their lives on January 2nd and I hope they love their engagement photos as much as we loved doing them!
Their final, edited photos should be done within a few days so check back!
[update] I finished them a bit earlier than expected, so click on the photo to see all of their final engagement photos.

My sister, Alex and I went to lunch and visited Waldenburg park today with my new camera in tote. Lots of beautiful Autumn colors, mild temperatures and Alex was enjoying the breeze. Watching him interact with Kristy was great, although I think he's turned into a momma's boy.
Also, today was the first real chance to test out my new equipment and... I love it! If you have taken any photos of little ones, you quickly realize that reaction time is key in capturing that smile or expression. The D700's high frame-rate helped a lot in making sure I got those smiles.
With Halloween just around the corner, I'm anxiously waiting to see Alex's first costume!

With the start of our business comes some financial dedication from both of us. I recently upgraded my current Nikon camera and lenses to pro-grade stuff and let me just tell you, the D700 blows me away! The focus is super fast and sharp, the low-light performance is nothing short of amazing, and the beautiful full-frame sensor gives my 50mm lens a true, 50mm focal distance.
I'm excited to use this tomorrow for its first portrait session. Coupled with the fast 14-24mm f2.8 and 24-70mm f2.8 lenses, this camera should put out stunning images in full color.
I'll post the photos from the portrait session tomorrow.
